Shire Hall

Project type
Commercial Office
Status/Date
Feasibility/ 2020
Location
Cambridge, UK

Occupying 6.10 acres in the historic heart of Cambridge, the site includes five heritage buildings—two of which are Grade II listed—alongside Shire Hall, recognised as a Building of Local Interest. It also encompasses part of a Scheduled Monument associated with the Norman castle founded in 1067, adding significant archaeological and cultural value to the site.

Our proposal introduces a carefully considered four-storey office building, designed to sit harmoniously within its historic context. Through thoughtful massing and a sensitive palette of materials, the new structure complements the architectural character of its surroundings while delivering modern, high-quality workspace.

Developed in close collaboration with the client, Brookgate, our scheme formed part of the winning bid and supported the subsequent feasibility study for this complex and historically layered site.

This project was delivered while working at Perkins&Will.
