Located adjacent to London Blackfriars Station, the New Bridge Street project is a 43,600 sqft (GEA) office refurbishment and rooftop extension of an existing early 20th-century building. This eight-storey pre-war structure fronts New Bridge Street to the west and overlooks a green urban park to the south. The development enhances the building’s commercial potential while respecting and celebrating its architectural heritage.

The newly added rooftop extension includes a terrace that offers panoramic views across the River Thames and central London. Positioned near Blackfriars Bridge, the prominent 26-metre living green wall on the building’s south façade acts as a vertical continuation of the adjacent park, transforming the façade into a lush urban oasis and reinforcing the building’s identity as a green gateway to the City of London. With over 22 million passengers passing through Blackfriars Station each year, this may well be the most visible green wall in London.

Internally, the office core has been completely reconfigured to meet current building regulations, including enhanced sanitary provisions and a fire-compliant stair core. The CAT A office interiors feature exposed services and ceilings to maximise floor-to-ceiling height and deliver a contemporary, flexible workspace environment.

Inspired by the compact footprint and charm of the decorative historic building, the design of the reception and sanitary/cycle facilities adopts warm, welcoming, and intimate materials, evoking the feel of a boutique hotel and enhancing the experience for office users

The refurbishment also carefully preserves and reveals the building’s original character. Pre-war structural columns with intricate rivet detailing, and sections of arched brickwork have been exposed and restored—providing a tactile connection to the building’s industrial heritage while blending seamlessly with its modern upgrades.
