DDK Hospital Arab Centre

Located in Doha Qatar, this 236-bed, 49,730 sqm teaching hospital brings together a comprehensive range of healthcare functions, including diagnostic and treatment facilities, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, clinical support services, and educational spaces.

Developed in close collaboration with healthcare consultant HCSI (Germany) and the medical planning team from Perkins&Will (Atlanta, USA), the architectural design advances the medical brief through a forward-thinking, patient-centred approach. Drawing inspiration from traditional vernacular architecture, the design incorporates elements such as courtyards and souks to create a sense of openness, introduce natural daylight, and foster a welcoming, human-scaled environment that supports healing and wellbeing.

Given the globally distributed project team—spanning the UK, USA, Germany, and Jordan—with the client based in Qatar, robust project management and cross-continental coordination were critical. We ensured seamless integration across disciplines and regions, maintaining continuity and design intent from concept through delivery.
